Agreed, but I don't think this is a limitation of the airlines/UA, but the providers and current technology.
Online streaming requires 1.5 to 3.0 Mbps minimum. Multiply that by ~100 passengers, and you're up there, especially considering you are in a metal tube traveling 400 to 500 kn.
(as a comparison, my max. available speed through a fixed cable where I live is 150 Mbps.)
