My favorite hot chocolate in recent memory was enjoyed at ki'XOCOLATL in Mérida, México. They offer the modern version, and the pre-columbian version. The latter was unsweetened cacao, to which you could add habanero, achiote, and another type of pepper, but the standard model was delicious.
I was going to post having tried some Mexican hot chocolate this past week.

I like the spicy after-punch to the mouth!
