I go along with that, the only reason for me to elect a Hampton normally, would be its price level. Whereas, if they would flag any hotel HGI or better, that could be a reason by itself for me to get to that destination and see what the town has to offer. Most likely I would then pay return visits to the property on a yearly basis as long as the travel time would be max 4 hours. Spent 14 nights at 4 different Hamptons in 2020 - out of 34 stays, the high number mostly because one particular one was a steal to book and still would assign rooms with a nice view to you as a diamond.
