One one hand I agree, that given COVID standards have obviously changed and they are struggling. On the other hand I am surprised with that they cannot implement simple systems, such I am sure they must have for guests of an FP on separate booking who has no FF details. I know they are strugglng on the expense line, but it does look like this will be a longer term issue. If every fish and chip shop in NSW can implement QR testing then I think QF could afford the resources to do it in what 10 or so lounges?
Given my flying the last week, I was surprised at the lack of interest that QF, and other airlines took with whether I actually was allowed to fly to the destination, i.e. had I a border pass etc, no one checked. Given the efforts all arilines go to, to check visas etc, the lack of effort domestically and the obvious issues that some passengers as I observed at BNE the other day, is surprising. i.e. they seem to have handballed the border issues as a state thing and not their problem. A simple solution such as with international that if the airlines takes a person who is not authorised, that the answer is to transport tham back at QF/VA's cost would suitable. That would stop these situations where people suddenly find themselves facing 14 day quatarine or a $1000 walk up fare to go back. The airlines do have some responsibility here.
For example, QF today rebooked me on a connecting flight (via MEL) that obviously I not allowed to take given the origin (SYD) and destination (LST).
(someone will jump here an say that you read and should know the health advice, I challenge anyone here to read the VIC gov health advice and answer some quite simple questions). QLD, WA, NT, TAS are perfectly clear, transparent and justifiable.
