While I disagree that it would be 'weird' to have that written into the policy manual - in my book, if it's done regularly as a matter of policy, it should be in the SOP - I don't dispute that some properties do this. I know for a fact that many properties have locks whose records can be reviewed, and would not be surprised at all if some properties make use of that information.
