Although this thread was started about the Chicco KeyFit 30, I wanted to report on my experience with the Cosco Scenera NEXT. I purchased this as a travel carseat after another FTer recommended it for its compact size and light weight. Indeed, it was super light and a breeze to carry along with us in the Chicco Car Seat Travel Bag (using backpack straps or rolling it). My only complaint is it's not as easy to get cinched down in the car as some of the more expensive seats.

On the outbound, we were seated in row 10 (Comfort+) of an A319. I was particularly interested in how it would fit in this row because the tray table is in the armrest, making the seat dimensions less flexible (i.e., we couldn't just lift the armrest if the seat was too wide). I was relieved that the carseat fit perfectly with a couple inches of width wiggle room on the sides. The base portion of the seat is narrower than the top part, which flares out to the sides at a level just above where the armrest is, so even if the carseat were a little wider, this wouldn't have been an issue. This row was pretty nice because the pitch is very generous and can even give some room for the little one to walk around in if they are getting antsy.

On the return leg, we were one row back--in row 11 of Comfort+. The seat fit in the rear-facing position, but there was not much room between the carseat in the rear-facing position and the seat in the row in front of us. As bambinomartino pointed out, this could be a problem in Main Cabin where the pitch isn't as generous. I think you may be able to get around this by angling the seat a little away from the seat in front of you, but this may be too generous of an angle than was intended for the carseat and I'm not sure about safety in this position. If placed in the front-facing position, it should fit no problem. however.
