This is pretty much my situation and perspective. We have both maintained Silver (she actually more than me) for the last 10 years or so. I had a year of Euro Gold back in the day but that’s about it. She thinks TP runs are bonkers and thinks I’m mad at the planning stage. The accountant in her would be happy to travel in the hold when we book. Fast forward to arriving at the airport, she is very glad of fast track and the lounge. She went down to Bronze for the first time in years and was very unimpressed with no lounge access at MIA!
We’ve done a mixture of ex-EU and 241s with a smattering of European breaks (the odd extra one when we needed a few extra points) but largely trips we would have taken anyway - most to see her family in the US. I’ve done the odd AMS run to get myself over the line and even HEL and back on one occasion when we’d had zero personal travel and I was a few points short from work trips.
Now we have 16 month old triplets and priorities are obviously different. There will be fewer trips and we will largely be using Avios with me possibly doing an ex-EU with b2b the day before we all travel.
