Thanks for reporting back, I do sometimes wondered what happened next. You certainly have a lot of patience and persistance, and it seems a good result in the end, the MAD service is well timed for connections and I hope you had a good set of flights there. I'm afraid BA isn't well equipped for mass failures like (say) AA, though the weather in the USA means they get more practice. To some degree it has got better in that MMB used never to provide alternative routes, but that wasn't going to work in with Iberia. For the WTP seating, I know that airlines are struggling with people checking in online and not showing up, and rather more people than normal deciding not to travel even after they have cleared security, it's a very unfortunate state of affairs. I hope you have a good Christmas in Switzerland, it's not a bad time to be self isolating in some respects.
