If that happens to us I’m sure we’ll find a way to cope, I might even BUY a glass of champagne! 😁
It's true. I had to do 3 sectors on Easyjet this year because BA weren't flying on the days I needed, and the lounge was closed at TFS. { On the plus side, at least you could buy booze in Y.

As for "BUYING" Champagne? Seriously?

If I was spending my hard earned on fizzy grape juice, Prosecco generally has a much better flavour / bang per buck. 😁

Might just accept I'll be dropping to Silver in Nov. and just use Avios for any flights I manage to get in hopefully by summer. Might as well just stay on 0 TP and save the cash

Interesting approach, and definitely one for those with bundles of Avios and a cautious approach to BA still being around in it's current form this time next year. If BA go under, or there is a serious Avios devaluation you are quids in. However, flaws in this strategy if BA is still around this time next year is that if there is some kind of (further) reduced tier point thresholds come renewal time you will miss out, and the actual value you are getting for the Avios you are burning through.
Because of the tier bonuses, the higher your status the less value you actually receive from redemptions. EG In normal times we generally only burn Avios if we can get 1p or more for them. { Includes AMEX 241 vouchers. } The calculation includes the Avios you would receive on a cash ticket, and also the best cash + Avios combo for the redemption. So for example on a 1 way off-peak TFS club ticket depending on status, we would generally not use a redemption unless...
9000 Avios + £70.50 RFS + 4468 ( Earned ) = Cash price £205.18 or above. { Gold }
9000 Avios + £70.50 RFS + 3575 ( Earned ) = Cash price £196.25 or above. { Silver }
9000 Avios + £70.50 RFS + 3128 ( Earned ) = Cash price £191.78 or above. { Bronze}
9000 Avios + £70.50 RFS + 2681 ( Earned ) = Cash price £187.31 or above. { Blue }

BA has still time to think and apply the appropriate decision and in this case, they have more time than most other competitor programs.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the thresholds this year, as although the thresholds have been cut 25%, pax flying is down by 80%. Doesn't take a genius on those numbers to see that there won't be many that requalify. { Although we'll have a bloody good go at it.
