If you can secure E+ on UA, then it is by far the best option. LH's economy seating is very cramped. US's service leaves something to be desired (pay for headphones, stingy second meal, etc.). I haven't been on BMI long haul but if you want more legroom, UA is the way to go.
Do you have to pay for headphones on US now (transatlantic) ?
I flew with them last year and they were free, seats were good, and video on demand were a bonus.
E+ on UA would be better though.
