The seat were award seats using QF miles actually, and I am AA PLT. Have done award seats twice using QF miles, once in first and once in business and was able to get a seat assignment out on my first call to BA. Make sure to quote your oneworld Sapphire status....sometimes I have had to remind them Sapphire(equivelent to BA Silver) status entitles you to be able to "choose your preferred seat in advance".
