For that sort of money, you can do a stop-over in IST
I'm glad prices in NL are somewhat reasonable at circa €150 including a signature, but otherwise considering there are no entry restrictions to Turkey I would have considered a stop-over (or even 2-3 days) there on the way to ZA.
