This is the part I have strong reservation. Sure - more protections = more money. But the thing is if you don't drive enough rental car (like 10-11 months out of a 12-month period), the $1,000 difference in deductible may bite you back. So is it worth doing this?

I am not saying AMEX is bad. But if you truly want primary coverage without using your own insurance, isn't it better to apply a CSP at least and use it, or as someone mentioned, the premium add-on coverage?

Beside - the bottom line is primary or secondary, no credit card coverage will provide you from the liabilities you cause beyond the rental car. I don't believe adding deductible is the solution.
