True. Recently, I went to JFK from DEN and looked on delta.com for a cheap fare. L direct was 250$. Then strangely enough, though I was asking for cheap economy seats, an option with a connection through SLC came up. It read:
DEN-SLC Y
SLC-JFK D
JFK DEN L
for 499$. The option of doing the return the same way with D and Y through SLC was 740$. Well I decided to take the connection on the way out. Though I know I will always get the upgrade on the JFK-DEN DEN-JFK, I prefer to take the B/E for that and getting the extra MQMs (5900 instead of 1620) which will put me above 125kMQM this year helped me take that decision. So, DL's policies on MQM work if there are reasonably priced A or D fares.
