So all fired up, I made another transaction to see if tapping the card contactlessly worked, and it did, in less than a second. A third transaction even accepted a Touch ID iPhone. I couldn’t believe my good fortune as I drove away.
On that note, the one downside of Costco's setup is that it seems to run every card at the pump as either "no CVM" or "online PIN" when tapping. I've yet to see CDCVM mentioned on a receipt.
Speaking of which, I forget if I ever tried my Andrews card at the pump to see if offline PIN works. Might be worth a try next time while I still can (on the assumption that Andrews will soon discontinue PIN preference if they haven't already).
