Impact on Travel if pax can certify receipt of vaccine
Wife and I are both in the medical field and got our first vaccine injections today. We complete the next one in 3 weeks. My query is, that, in the context of airlines' trying to certify Covid-19 safety of flyers (such as pre-flight Covid testing), could there not be a way for those completing the vaccine doses to have a way to have a certifying card showing proof of completing the vaccination program? Airlines could load this into the pax's pre-flight info.
We recently went through this for a trip to HNL on HA and endured the testing program they required pre-flight. While it was a little burdensome, we were able to do our trip to Hawaii without quarantines. I thought it sucked, though, to have to wear a mask while sitting outside at the pool. I suspect there will be many more who are in our boat. My verification card was an official one with the CDC logo on it, with specifics of place, time, and type of vaccine.
Of course, we have been told that receiving the vaccine does not exempt travelers of distancing and mask requirements. That is fine. I think this would be a step in the right direction of smoothing traveling convenience for those who can (and hopefully did) get the vaccine. I hope that day will come, and I also hope the day will come when I don't have to wear a mask for a 6 hr flight. Wonder if others have thoughts or perspective on this issue.
