This is the key point. If the ticket numbers have not changed, you need to call and get it fixed. If they have changed, you don't.
Check your receipt carefully, because United has had a habit of delivering old receipts that don't show the latest changes. In the past, I've been able to generate a fresh receipt by instructing United.com to email it to me; I'm not sue if that still works or not.
