UA Award flight ticketing question
Good day, all. I have a question that is most likely trivial, but I'd honestly like to hear what you think.
We have a trip booked with UA miles on UA metal. Recently I noticed a slightly better itinerary for fewer miles. I made the change online but then got an email saying that there was a problem and I had to call UA. I called them a couple of days ago and apparently they needed to collect another $5 for taxes & fees for the different itinerary. I gave them my credit card number over then phone, and the charge showed as pending in my credit card account. A few minutes later I received an email with new ticket numbers, and by the next day I had the difference in miles refunded to my MileagePlus account.
But then suddenly the $5 charge on my credit card disappeared from the pending list and did not show up in the transactions list. I looked at the two receipts (for the first and then the changed itineraries) and there was no difference in fees. I'm not sure what the $5 was all about. Anyway, since I have ticket numbers are we good to go regardless of the $5? Or should I call back and stay on hold for *another* hour to ask about a $5 charge? (Surely there are better uses of my time?)
