I'm actually wondering if the Basic Economy inventory you are seeing is an accident because I search this route every couple of days at the minimum and I have hardly seen BE inventory available for the past couple of months. I would say 98% of the time I only see regular economy only. I see today that they have brought BEback, but I swear this happened in early Fall. Like I think September I wasn't seeing BE, it came back for a few days in October, and then it went away for weeks again. It is either mistakes or they can't makeup their mind.
It's not a matter of BE inventory. There's only one single BE fare filing on this route which is restricted to certain flight times and goes with the main cabin WN fare match fare. There's a dual inventory check for BE fares and you can only purchase when there is also inventory in the underlying coach fare basis. Normally, you'd see a dozen plus BE fares to go with the various cheaper main cabin fare filings which is why you will see BE fares available more frequently on other routes which are not as competitive.
