Also, it's a Mastercard, so it'll be my Costco card of choice (including gas) so no issue there with hitting the trigger spend for the bonus points.
The one thing I wasn't sure about was exactly *when* the first statement will be triggered (can't remember if the "start date" is effective from date of card issue, or when it's activated once I get it) - IIRC, my points expire around the 6th, and that's a bit tight to leave it to hope the points will post in time! I should have done this sooner, but various things got in the way.

I guess I can call the card people once I've activated it to check what my first statement date will be, but like the idea of a plan B.
