I am not familiar with PM benefits since I am a lowly SM, but I would think that the process of DL waiting to approve upgrades seems like the obvious way that it would be done.

As stated earlier, how would they ever sell the max number of f/c seats on a flight?

I agree there needs to be some type of upgrade window, but I think that DL would be justified in a policy of making upgrades available to medallions a couple days ahead of the day of the flight (maybe 2 days for PM, 1 day for GM and 12 hours for SM).

Is that not how it generally works now?
