I thought you were automatically upgraded at time of booking on M, B and Y fares.
When you book an M,B,Y without getting an upgraded confirmation on the spot, you are paying your money and taking your chances. I would continue to call back and never book one of those fares unless the CSR would instantly confirm the upgrade. Just my opinion and I could be wrong.
