You raise interesting points. I am in the UK and the most you can get with the CC is Gold, despite spend. It's frustrating to say the least.
I have a £400 voucher that expires on Dec 31st and if I don't use it, I lose it... This has been the trigger.
Furthermore I have a 25,000 point voucher which expires shortly after, so that, alongside the £400 voucher means I only need to spend circa 60,000 points hit my 50 nights. Does that make sense?
In that case, the question is if Platinum is worth 60,000 points. That answer depends on the brands you usually stay in and how much travel you expect in 2021. And what value you assign to Platinum benefits.
