You raise interesting points. I am in the UK and the most you can get with the CC is Gold, despite spend. It's frustrating to say the least.

I have a £400 voucher that expires on Dec 31st and if I don't use it, I lose it... This has been the trigger.

Furthermore I have a 25,000 point voucher which expires shortly after, so that, alongside the £400 voucher means I only need to spend circa 60,000 points hit my 50 nights. Does that make sense?
