I'm looking at a rate on Agoda that's 30% lower than on Amex but it has one of these phony "24h sale coupon" on it (also had that a week ago)

Now I'm seeing in the Amex's T&C:
The "Lowest Rate Guaranteed" policy does not apply to hotel rooms booked through or in combination with frequent stay, loyalty, points, or other reward type programs, rooms booked through coupon promotions, won through contests or sweepstakes or transferred, or rooms booked on opaque websites that do not allow you to see the name of the hotel until your reservation is complete.

I assume the real goal is to exclude personal coupons, but that's probably enough for them to deny my claim

Just curious if anyone has any datapoint on this sort of booking. Maybe I'm wrong
