The exact situation occurred to me, except I didn’t actually apply because I was worried about the lesser bonus I saw after logging into the website.

When I don’t login, I see bonus you mentioned but after logging in it’s a completely different offer. I opened a chat with an Amex rep asking about this and all they said was “you’ll get whatever bonus that you’ve applied for”.

I didn’t trust that, and the rep was far more concerned with asking me questions about why I was interested in the Platinum card...
