I just got news that JW Marriott Kuwait is closing for a major [and much-needed] renovation project that will see the iconic Kei Japanese restaurant closing permanently and the building reconfigured. The current plans are that the adjacent shopping mall will expand into what is currently the hotel's lobby space and some of the lower hotel floors, and the hotel will emerge as a smaller offering on the upper floors of the tower.

Kei is closing on January 31st, while a post on the hotel's Instagram account from November 18th says they're refreshing the hotel, so I'm not sure if the hotel itself has closed yet. No word either on when they plan to reopen, but I'll poke around.
