Also customer service reps are not known for being 100% right. I'd wait and see once you start spending what posts.
I guess the only 'proof' is their website which has the offer present, but I didn't screenshot the terms and conditions of the application after I clicked through. I'll be able to get some value out of the card (more than the fee) I suspect; hoping to triple dip the airline credit. However, I'll transfer my points or downgrade before the next annual fee is due.
