They should have had a new boarding pass ready for me for a new flight - perhaps to Osaka, to Hong Kong, to Beijing, to Shanghai? Maybe on a different carrier?

Considering that from now on, most of my travel will probably be in business class, I don't understand how anyone could continue flying with United after having gone through what I have. Could you?
I think your expectations are a bit high?

I'm guessing you purchased an economy ticket?

I am curious what the fare class was? I think it as great of UA to endorse your ticket over to SQ.

You got to SIN ~ 90 minutes late (00:55 on SQ vs. 23:35 on UA) in economy on SQ. I think you came out way ahead of 95% of the affected passengers?

You sort of put yourself in a bad situation by changing your itinerary from a HKG routing to a NRT routing, although I am sure you could not have known about an impending typhoon. Why did you change your itinerary?

I think that you should ask for your SWU back; that seems reasonable. Other than that I don't see what the big deal is? Hundreds of customers were impacted, some delayed by several days. I would have been extremely happy to get to SIN only 90 minutes late.
