Did United Ever Have To Have "United Asia Airlines" For Taiwan?

After watching an informative video on YouTube regarding KLM Asia and other airlines that needed a "Asia" subsidiary to fly both to Taiwan and Mainland China, did United or PanAm from which United purchased their Asia routes ever have to create a subsidiary to serve both markets?

Interesting how widespread the practice was:
Australia Asia Airlines
Japan Asia Airways
KLM Asia
Swissair Asia
Air France Asie
Lufthansa via Condor

Any history of there ever being a "United Asia Airlines" or a separate PanAm division for Taiwan?
