I am very much an AS guy! I had already requalified for 75K. I found myself in LAX and was heading to my vacation home in PHX. Flying LAX-SFO-HKG-GUM-HNL-SFO-PHX sub $1K seemed like the perfect routing including PE on the SFO-HKG segment. I visited 7 lounges as *Gold. The six flights earned the 20K EQM & UA metal flight requirements. I never flew UA again until September 2020 on a $59 PHX-SFO-LAX itinerary (PHX-SFO upgraded, SFO-LAX left at the top of the upgrade list) so I could fly back to PHX on a $44 SW flight to qualify for the Jan-Feb companion pass promotion. Little did I know at the time that I would be required to fly AC since AS isn't serving my city during the pandemic. *Gold at least gets a baggage waiver & MLL access.
The last few years I have been flying ~200K miles yearly between revenue & awards. I flew over 58K miles between Jan 12th & January 29th this year.
Interestingly, AS is carrying forward 2020 Jan-Apr EQM as a head start for 2022 status. I will requalify for MVPG75K for 2022 on a flight on January 1st, 2021. Pretty much a free agent until the beginning of 2022.
