To me BA is at the top of the second tier - I fly them at least once a month long haul and prefer SQ and CX hands down. However, as is often the case, I tend to fly BA outbound from LHR - most airlines preform better at their main hub which is why I almost always fly CX out of HKG, SQ ex. SIN, etc. etc.
