I’ll chime in here too, having checked in on 12NOV.

The property opened in May, and has been expanding availability under the state rules since. The sixth floor is unused as of this writing, as well as the two northeast-most rooms on each floor. There has been replacement of mortar along the exterior walls for the last couple of weeks, involving scaffolding and high-lift/bucket trucks. There is also evidence of plumbing rework in several rooms on floors 2 and 4.

We’ve had friends and family come down, so we’ve actually checked in to a total of five rooms so far. The rooms are *fairly* standardized in that they are all studio suites - no bedroom walls in any of them. The layouts vary a bit - some 2Q units have a “breakfast bar” with two high stools, others have a dining table that seats four. The sofas in “King Studio” and “Two Queen Studio rooms are long and firm and do not pull out. “Studio King Room With Sofa Bed” have a smaller sofa that *does* pull out, but note that all rooms have some sort of sofa. Adjoining rooms are available - I believe most of them are 2Q connecting to a Studio King With Sofa Bed. No 2Q room layout has a dedicated desk, and this may present a problem for those who are WFH.

The kitchen situation is mildly amusing. While many RIs have taken to leaving all the kitchen gear in the dishwasher between guests, that’s not happening here. However, the coffeemaker and toaster were both wrapped in SaranWrap. The lack of provided dish soap and paper towel roll is annoying AF. The desk has Cascade pacs for 20 pesos, but I warn you that the water is *incredibly* hard in Merida and the rinse aid isn’t filled in the dishwashers. So unless you’re fortunate enough to have one of the rooms we’ve touched, your glasses will not be virtually spotless. The kitchen towel issue is hilarious - we have had “none”, “just a potholder”, “full set” and “extra”, and replacement has been irregular. My crappy Spanish did manage to get me a dish sponge with a scrubby side, however.

Housekeeping has been remarkably thorough but the lack of “do not disturb”/“no service today” door hangs or magnets has led to our room being made up when I didn’t have a tip out several times now. Requests to the front desk to have the room only made up on request don’t seem to have worked. Also, the maids won’t take a proffered tip without a note, and while there has been an RI pen, there are no notepads in the rooms.

Climate control is via LG Mini Split AC, which can leave the bed area cool and drafty while the area closer to the thermostat is pleasant. Blackout curtains of excellent quality and meaningful overlap are fitted. Floors are luxury vinyl plank with some area-rug-sized carpet insets.

TVs are nice LGs with accessible HDMI ports, and WiFi is solid. There is no option of an upgraded speed tier, but streaming has been reasonable. WiFi coverage on the pool deck (7) has been very solid.

Ice machines are on every floor but as of 12/12 are still disabled “due to the pandemic”. There are no icemakers in the fridges - the presence of an ice tray is hit or miss. There is also not a wastebasket in any of the bathrooms we have seen.

Front desk service is generally very good to excellent and they have solid local knowledge.

Overall, it’s a nice RI by any standard and the location is much less of a hassle than I expected. It’s a straight shot down Av Technologico to Downtown, the ring road is close by, etc.

a warning: the address would indicate it’s in the middle of a comfortably middle class neighbourhood, on a cul de sac. It is not. It’s on the corner of Calle 20B across from the southwestern corner of Galarias Merida mall. This knowledge will help you with Uber and food delivery.
