Protea Hotel Windhoek Fürstenhof, Namibia [Master Thread]

Introduction I did reviews of some less vitisted properties in Tanzania earlier this year. I will continue the trend, but this time in Namibia. I will visit the four family properties that are currently open. All of them belong to the Protea brand. Check In I had booked the hotel two hours before arriving at the reception through marriott.com. Even with the reservation number, they were not able to find my reservation in the system. This wasn't a big hassle, however. They gave me a key and said we would sort it later.I booked the cheapest room and got a corner room with a city view. Room The room matches my general experience with Protea. Nice, but dated. There is a Hilton in the city that I am tempted to try to have a local chain hotel to compare this hotel with.I will let the pictures speak for themselves when it comes to the room. Location The hotel is located at the edge of the CBD. Many things are in walking distace or a short car trip. There is ample free on-site parking. Dining I left early for a day of driving to Katima in the Caprivi Strip to the next Protea Hotel, so I was not able to sample the normal breakfast.I did receive a takeaway breakfast, which was okay. It consisted of some wholewheat bread, fried eggs, some piece of meat (I am guessing it was deer), a piece of fruit and a container of yoghurt (without a spoon?).I did use the hotel bar to watch a football game. The bartender, Hendrick, was really friendly and helpful. Wine was very reasonably priced, which made my drive the next day more miserable than it already would have been. Overall The would rate the hotel overall as fine for a short stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The picture of the outdoor pool is misleading in my opinion. The actual pool is more like a big whirlpool rather than a small pool.If you are interested into going to Joe's Beerhouse, which is really popular, the hotel can arrange for a pickup service that is done by Joe's. It costs 25 NAD each way and is added to your restaurant bill. Totally worth it.I am not sure why aI took a photo of it, but here are the tv stations available in the room. And then a picture from the room of the city.
