damnyourefine That’s exactly what I did - I called the hotel directly right after I received that email, politely inquired about the possibility of an upgrade for my stay in two weeks, and the front desk agent said he’d call me back. Five minutes later, he called back and said that he’d just bumped me up into their second-best suite in the house.

Marriott really destroyed SPG’s Ambassador tier. There’s no reason why they can’t offer the most bespoke service in the industry but alas, keeping the stockholders and board of directors happy with penny-wise, pound-foolish profitability is what they’re all about.
