Here is my follow-on set of new quiz items which will also be my final set for 2020. As always, please limit your response to no more than two quiz items per day so that all may participate. And please be specific as you can when identifying aircraft types. Thanks!

The 1970's.....

The first three quiz items have a time line of 1970....

33. You are in New Orleans and are on your way to Denver on board a daily flight which will make two intermediate stops en route. Identify the airline, the two stops in order and the aircraft type. ANSWERED

34. Now you are in Kansas City and need to attend a meeting in Sioux Falls. You'll be on board a flight departing from MCI in the early evening which will make one stop en route before arriving into FSD just after 8:00 pm. Name the airline, the stop and the equipment. ANSWERED

35. You are in Burbank, Illinois and have been asked to attend a meeting in Conroe, Texas. You would like to depart from the nearest airport to Burbank in the morning and arrive into the nearest airport to Conroe in time for cocktail hour at 5:00 pm. You ascertain you can make this happen by taking two different flights which means making a connection between two different airlines. You'll have a comfortable two hours and 15 minutes to make your connection between the two air carriers. Your first flight will be nonstop and your second flight will make three stops en route. Identify the airport you will depart from, the air carrier operating the first flight as well as the aircraft type, the connecting city, the airline operating the second flight as well as the equipment, the three stops made by the second flight, and the airport you will arrive into. 36. Now it's 1971 and you are on your way from Nicosia on the island of Cyprus to London Heathrow. You're in first class on board a flight that operates four days a week and makes one stop en route where there will be a flight number change. Name the air carrier, the stop and the aircraft type. 37. If you wanted to fly on board a Super BAC One-Eleven series 500 from Rio de Janeiro to Belem in 1973, what airline would you call? ANSWERED

38. Identify the air carrier that ran this print ad during the mid 1970's:

It takes a big airline to have twelve airlines under its wing. ANSWERED

The next three quiz items have a time line of 1975.....

39. Time to head to Seattle from Atlanta! You'll be on board a daily flight departing ATL in the afternoon which will make one stop en route. Name the airline, the stop and the equipment. ANSWERED

40. This airline was operating daily direct service from San Diego to Edmonton at this time with four stops being made en route between SAN and YEG. Identify the air carrier, all four stops in order and the aircraft type. ANSWERED

41. You're in San Francisco and are headed down to Los Angeles. It's a beautiful day for flying so you are looking forward to this hopefully scenic flight which means you've booked window seat 3F ahead of the wing. This flight will also make two stops en route from SFO to LAX. Name the airline, both stops and the equipment. ANSWERED

42. It's 1977. You are in Paris and and will fly nonstop to Carcassonne departing from Orly Airport. The flight in question only operates on weekdays and is also the only flight operated by the airline in question from ORY to CCF. What air carrier will be you be flying with and on what type of aircraft? ANSWERED

The next four quiz items have a time line of 1979.....

43. Three airlines were operating nonstop flights from Los Angeles to Miami at this time. All three air carriers operated wide body equipment on their respective services; however, one of the three was also operating a narrow body aircraft type on one of its flights. Name this airline and the narrow body aircraft type. ANSWERED

44. You are in Toronto and are heading down to West Palm Beach. Your flight will make two stops en route and operates every weekday. Identify the air carrier, both stops and the equipment. ANSWERED

45. Now you are in Wichita where you've just completed an aviation-related project as an independent consultant. It's winter time in chilly Kansas and it sure would be nice to soak up some sun at a warm, exotic location, hopefully on board a sailboat. Just then the phone rings and guess what: it's you know who! "Hey buddy, we just anchored the catamaran right off a beautiful beach just a stones throw from La Paz in Baja! Come on down!" Amazing....and even more amazing is the fact there's a direct flight from ICT to LAP which operates twice a week and makes four stops en route. Name the airline you'll be flying with, all four stops in order and the aircraft type. Hint: the aircraft was in a two class, first and coach configuration

46. You're back in Seattle and are now heading to New York City. You're in no rush and have found an interesting milk run flight which will make five stops en route. Identify the air carrier, all five stops in order, the airport you will arrive into in the New York City area and the equipment. ANSWERED

The 1980's......

47. In 1980, five airlines were operating wide body service from London Heathrow to Delhi. One of these air carriers also operated a flight twice a week with a narrow body aircraft type which made one stop en route from LHR to DEL. Name this airline as well as the narrow body equipment it operated on the route and for bonus points identify the stop. ANSWERED - BA with a VC-10 via DOH

48. Also in 1980, this air carrier was operating a direct flight once a week from Rio de Janeiro to Tokyo. The service in question made four stops en route from GIG to NRT. Identify the airline, all four stops in order and the aircraft type. ANSWERED

49. Now it's 1983 and you are in Eureka. You are about to board a direct flight at ACV that will take you to a destination located in the U.S. that is the farthest you can go without having to make a connection. This flight operates six days a week and makes three stops en route to its final destination. Identify the air carrier, all three stops in order, the final destination and the equipment. ANSWERED

50. It's 1986 and you are back in Toronto. This time you are headed to Los Angeles and have found a direct flight from YYZ to LAX that will make one stop en route. Name the airline, the stop and the aircraft type. ANSWERED

51. You are now in Detroit in 1986 and are traveling to Miami. You've found a direct one stop flight operated five days a week by an airline you've never had an opportunity to fly with. You book a seat in first class. Identify the air carrier, the stop and the equipment. Hint: the airline in question was a relatively new start up air carrier. It wasn't Presidential Airways, the aircraft wasn't a BAe 146 and this flight did not stop at IAD.

The next two quiz items both have a time line of 1987.....

52. You are heading to Fort Lauderdale from Long Island MacArthur Airport on board a flight which makes two stops en route and operates six days a week. What airline are you flying with, where will the two stops be made and what type of aircraft will you be flying on? ANSWERED

53. From Fort Lauderdale, you've made your way to Montego Bay on board a sailboat. It's been a lovely sail but now it's time to get back to work. And that means flying to Sacramento. One airline can get you from MBJ to SMF although a connection will be required with a comfortable connecting interval of one hour and 35 minutes between flights. Your first flight will make one stop en route to your connecting city. Your second flight will also make one stop on its way to Sacramento. Different equipment will be operated on each daily flight. Identify the air carrier, the stop made by the first flight, the connecting airport, the stop made by the second flight and the different aircraft types. ANSWERED

The next four quiz items have a time line of 1988.....

54. You are on your way from Baltimore nonstop to Antigua in the Caribbean on board an airline you've never heard of. However, they do offer a business class up front and that's where you are sitting. The air carrier in question operates four days a week nonstop from BWI to ANU and also operates five days a week nonstop from Atlanta to Antigua. Name the air carrier and the equipment. It wasn't BWIA. Hint: the air carrier in question was an obscure new start up that did not last very long. Besides the BWI-ANU and ATL-ANU nonstop services, it was also operating five nonstop FLL-ANU flights a week at this time. Additional hint: the aircraft was a B727-200.

55. Now you are en route from Columbus to Nassau in order to check out a sailboat that's for sale. You're on board a flight which will make one stop and operates five days a week from CMH to NAS. Identify the airline, the stop and the aircraft type. Hint: the aircraft was in a one class, all-coach configuration

56. You've made the deal for the sailboat and are now on your way from Nassau to Nashville (which just might be the title of a Jimmy Buffett song but probably not). Your flight will make two stops and operates direct five days a week from NAS to BNA. Name the air carrier, both stops and the equipment. ANSWERED

57. If you wanted to fly nonstop into Yakima for Christmas with friends in 1988 on board a McDonnell Douglas MD-80, what airline would you call and what airport would you depart from on your way to YKM? ANSWERED

The 1990's.....

58. Only one air carrier was serving St. Petersburg (PIE) in Florida in the fall of 1991. And the airline in question was only operating three nonstop flights a week into PIE at this time from only one city. Identify the air carrier, the city this service departed from and the aircraft type. ANSWERED

59. In 1995, this airline marketed its premier service in the front cabin of its wide body and narrow body aircraft as "Royal Hibiscus" service. Name this air carrier. ANSWERED

60. In 1996, this air carrier was operating direct wide body service once a week from Shannon to Mexico City with one stop being made en route from SNN to MEX. Identify the airline, the stop and the equipment. ANSWERED

61. Also in 1996, four six airlines were operating flights from Sao Paulo to Miami and although not all of these flights were nonstop, they were all operated with various wide body aircraft types. Only one of these airlines was operating a daily flight from GRU to MIA with a Boeing 777-200. Name that air carrier. ANSWERED

BONUS: Referencing quiz item # 60, five of the airlines operating service from Sao Paul to Miami at this time in 1996 were American, United, TransBrasil, VARIG and VASP. Identify the sixth airline as well as the equipment it as operating on the route. ANSWERED
