I think you’ve misinterpreted the OP’s remark. They were m asking if when on board they could downgrade to economy to sleep across the three seats. I’m not sure if the flight was empty, that the crew would say no. They might well say yes.
But in any event with current sort of loads I’d be more inclined to just buy economy and allocate a middle seat, which are really comfortable to sit in when no one is beside, in front of, or behind you.
