Tax Refund Mex Residents
Hi, wondering if anyone here has any good experience that could ultimately be useful for people in the future.
Mexican residents (by passport and visa) are exempt from tourism tax. I was curiously looking at my tickets and wanted some advice.
On one ticket (which was WTP UuA to CW), here is what I have per adult.
Airport Departure Tax (International) - Mexico USD 60.04
Transportation Tax (International) - Mexico USD 41.12 (Matrix calls it XO)
I then looked at a CW ticket I had.
Airport Departure Tax (International) - Mexico USD 59.67
Transportation Tax (International) - Mexico USD 63.28 (Matrix calls it XO)
To me this seems strangely high. The APD (known as TUA) should be only about 900 pesos (approx 45 dollars) for international tickets, which is certainly not 60 USD or hasn't been at any point for a long time regardless of exchange rate fluctuations. What is confusing is I have no idea what the transportation tax is. If you book ex-UK to Mex, tourism tax appears. But booking the other way (ex-MEX), it appears as transportation tax.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks a lot and warm wishes
