Yes, different process / less hasslesome. I cancelled a M&M booking for next year May (LX C SIN-FRA) as we won't be likely travelling by then and wanted to switch accounts to use the miles from.
Dutifully I paid 2 x 50€ (2 pax) and miles were returned within minutes and the horrendous YQ + Fees were back on my credit card 4-5 days later.
