Anyone have positive experiences with requesting an upgrade immediately on booking (prior to the window opening), and it clearing when the window opens and R > 0?

Booked something a month ago, and it's 12 days out now but at T-14 days it never cleared. On w/AC they said it should have upgraded but not sure why it didn't. Only solution they have is to cancel and request again.
