You know, it just occurred to me that if deep discount fares potentially can't be upgraded in the future on a complimentary basis (for EXPs), those EXPs who travel on those fares will be doubly screwed because they no longer earn 4 sticker UPGs for every 10K miles flown. That's assuming AA didn't establish a system for EXPs to continue to earn those stickers for use with discount fares. The gloom & doom scenario of where this all can lead is getting depressing.
