I would guess the problem is with your equipment. I use a Kensington adaptor which I find marginal. Sometimes it seems to trip when plugged to a power source or if the cord gets jiggled. Usually removing it from the aircraft outlet for 2-5 seconds and the plugging in again seems to get it going.
