Question The pull-out beverage tray in F

Is there any etiquette or protocol associated with the use of the pull-out beverage tray in the armrest between F seats? The space in the armrest is generally sufficient to hold one drink. If I beat the other person onto the plane, I have taken the armrest as my drinkholder and expect them to use the tray. That has not always been the case, as some will crowd the armrest and some will take the armrest space for their drink if I vacate it.

I know this is nitpicking. I'm just curious if anyone else has feelings one way of the other.
