Bumping since it’s been a few years and nobody’s mentioned this plan called Magenta.

I’ve never had TMobile but am now considering this plan in USA called Magenta, which gets you unlimited data abroad via 2G. In Jpn, what kind of speed are people getting on TMobile phones? Usually >200kbps? Need to be able to call via Skype and use Google Maps. My wife is grandfathered into a Sprint plan that seems to get LTE access in Jpn, but that plan is no longer available.

If TMobile sucks for data in Jpn, what’s a better USA carrier option for unlimited data and text in Jpn?
