Realistically, if traveling to Hawaii under the current rules, you need to make sure you have access to an approved test with rapid results, otherwise the risk is fairly high that you will not get your results before the flight departs and then you are subject to a 14 day quarantine. The best options would appear to be the on airport tests offered by the major airlines at their hubs. That may mean changing your flight to connect in one of those airports with a long connecting time or to stay the night before at that airport. We changed our January flight from a same day connection to an overnight at DFW to be sure that we can get test results prior to departure. We will try the Vault test as Plan A (we leave on a Thursday, so will not be subject to the UPS delays over the weekend) but will have the DFW on airport test as Plan B..

On top of that Hawaii will undoubtedly change their rules many times over the next few months so I think all of us planning to go need to keep on top of the rules and plan to be very flexible or even to cancel at short notice.
