If you make it clear - note for housekeeping and front desk - that you want the room as a "base to work from for awhile - I'll be in and out". Then you'd be fine.
I usually pay the full amount in advance, either per card or cash. But yes, best to let the hotel know what you plan to do and if you depart early you can offer them to just change to a standard room so another guest can enjoy the suite or whatever they gave you as Globalist. No need to occupy a room that isn't used and could otherwise be sold or occupied.
