The only thing keeping me from getting the card is that I am already a platinum member (and will be for the next year at a minimum). Looking for some other perspectives about getting now or waiting.
I'm in the same boat...I'm questioning whether or not to get the IHG card. It seems to me, although IHG has a huge footprint, they sorely lack high-end hotels that are comparable to other chains. That's the biggest drawback for me is being able to redeem points for aspirational properties like I can with Hyatt/Marriott. There just aren't all that many Intercontinental hotels in many places I visit so not sure if the value for me is there.
Platinum status with IHG is pretty lackluster- not even free breakfast at high-end properties. Overall I find that is the biggest benefit of holding any top-tier status with any chain.
For me I'm just not sure there is enough benefit to take up a slot in my Chase wallet. Currently hold the Marriott Boundless, Hyatt Visa, CSR/CF/CFU, and United card from Chase.
