I'd say upwards of 20% +/- 5% within the first year. I'm not sure exactly what the multiplier was because they stated 40x points/dollar except part of that 40x included the platinum status multiplier. I am Spire so had a little bit of extra points on top of that. It's difficult to do a direct calculation as the bonus points received for card spend are given to you as a separate line item on your IHG activity per every card statement. This is the only hotel card I own so I can't say much about other programs. I have a CSR and choose to put IHG spending on my IHG card.
For reference, here's a few redemptions I've had this year:
1. Holiday Inn Club Vacations Orange Lake Resort, 4 nights, 2 bedroom suite - 40k x 3 = 120k points
2. Kimpton Phoenix, 4 nights. 1 standard room received upgrade to deluxe. 50k x 3 = 150k points. Price of normal booking was upwards of $1300 (I checked before booking w points)
3. Intercontinental Chicago, 1 night received 3 or 4 category upgrade to suite with 50k points.
4. Future booking - 4 nights Intercontinental Tokyo 3 x 52.5k = 157.5k points. Cash value is well over $1200
5. Future Booking - 4 nights crowne plaza Kyoto 3 x 30k points = 90k
