OP: If you do not get an automated "We're sorry" email, follow up with Premier Voice. UA will likely offer you a travel credit, but it probably won't be a large one.

My main concern now is I voluntarily switched to a different flight. The original flight is still sitting here scheduled to depart any minute with a delay just north of 6.5 hours forcing an overnight in Chicago. I elected for an even later flight to Chicago to keep the Polaris 777.

The other issue is I voluntarily accepted a reroute to Detroit as it will arrive 5 hours earlier tomorrow than the flight to Flint. The drive is 1 hour vs 10 minutes but oh well.

Not sure if it matters, but I'm only platinum but upon completion of this trip I'll be 1K.

They offered me a room at the Hilton, but my credit card will pay for hotel fees and I'm platinum with Marriott so I declined the room.

I fly a ton so I'll be happy with even a $100 voucher to use later. In a stroke of bad luck, this is my third straight trip with a 4+ hour delay and 2nd in that stretch with a forced overnight. Last one had a 1245 original departure so this one hurts a bit more since I left at 0530 this morning.
