Compensation for Mechanical Delay Over 6 Hours?
I'm currently sitting in Denver. I boarded the 0945 DEN-ORD flight and we taxid, de-iced, and appeared to be ready for takeoff. 90 minutes after pushback we were back at the gate and kicked off the flight due to a mechanical issue.
We are now scheduled to depart at 1600 for a delay greater than 6 hours.
It is also worth noting that our aircraft was swapped so my seat went from a lie-flat 777 to a standard first class seat on a 737. This was a CPU so I'm not sure this part is applicable.
As this delay is greater than 6 hours is United likely to offer any compensation? The delay is being categorized as a "technical issue on the plane".
If the delay is much longer I'll miss the last flight of the night to FNT which departs 30 minutes after I am currently scheduled to arrive in ORD (my credit card has trip delay reimbursement so at this point I'm hoping this happens).
